Packing Woes

Feet aching; arms drooping

I sit, thinking,

Debating

If its worth continuing.

But someone has to do the packing

So I better not be thumb-twiddling;

Instead, get all the clothing,

Ready for travelling.

Two bags to begin with

Have swelled to four.

MD will not be pleased.

Oh well! He should be glad there aren’t more!

Clothes, books, medicines – all in.

Yikes, I’ve forgotten footwear and the biscuit bin.

My painting set goes in as well;

I hope nothing begins to smell!

The bags are finally filled;

Fingers crossed – nothing spills!

Zip them and line them up,

Phew! The end’s in sight, so chin up!

Alas! Eyeing the bags warily

I realise, despondently,

That the toothbrushes have been left out;

As well as MD’s favourite shorts!
